Once, one branch was dominating in the Tarnobrzeg region: sulfur mining and processing. On this area a sub-zone of the TSEZ has been formed. The industrial objects of the sulfur mine and processing works in Tarnobrzeg and the sulfur mine Machow are located 1 km away from the primary route Warszawa-Rzeszow and directly at the route Mielec-Tarnobrzeg. The investment district Jeziorko is located near the sulfur mine in Jeziorko, at the route Stalowa Wola-Tarnobrzeg.

Although the branch specificity and the professional qualifications of personnel have already decided the character of this area (extractive industry, chemical production), the systematical process of sulfur mine liquidation and after-mining land reclamation is still being realized.
